Reconstruction or replacement starters and alternators
Problems with the staters and alternators can be serious. They can leave you strand, or leave equipment out of service needed. This practical guide will help you find the most economical solution for your startup problems or the alternator.
Before considering the approach of a starter rebuilder alternator and / or supplier, you will need to gather information. From starters and alternators vary greatly from vehicle, it is useful to know what you're looking for!
At a minimum, you'll need to know the make, model, year and engine size of your vehicle. A typical example would be a 2002 Dodge Caravan with the 3.8 liter six-cylinder engine. If the vehicle is an industrial machine or agricultural, you will also need the name of the engine manufacturer (ie: Deutz) and preferably the model number of the engine.
An even easier identification the reference is to record straight from the manufacturer of the device. Sometimes the vehicles of a certain brand or model are several types of starter or alternator, some of which are not interchangeable, if the registration number of the part of your specific unit guarantees an exact match when you seeking a replacement. The number is usually stamped on the device. If more than one number, simply record them all. Your rebuilder recognize the right number.
Repair or replace?
Sometimes it is more affordable for your unit repaired rather than replaced.
